Mother's Day is just around the corner, and to celebrate, I thought a photo contest seemed most appropriate! The contest consists of showing off a photo that tells what motherhood means to you! The winner of this contest will win a $100.00 gift certificate to Heather Hoadley Photography! The gift certificate must be used by July 31, 2011 or else your session, wedding, or special event must be scheduled by this date. The photo MUST be a photo taken by YOU, or a photo that you have permission to submit into a contest, absolutely no exceptions!!!
To enter the contest, simply post your photo onto the Heather Hoadley Photography fanpage, and then have your friends and family "like" your photo by clicking the "like" button. The photo with the most "likes" wins the $100.00 gift certificate, plain and simple! You must however, be a fan (a.k.a. "liker") of the fanpage to enter the contest. Again, the photo must show or tell some sort of story of what motherhood means to you. The contest will run until midnight, May 8, 2011 (Mother's Day).
Your photo can represent motherhood, maternity, pregnancy, mother relationships and everything in between. This might be a photo of the mother in your life, a photo of your children, maybe you with your mother, or maybe a photo you have taken of a mother reading a story to her child, a mother holding her child's hand as they cross the street, or a mother looking down at her growing belly in anticipation of her baby she will soon meet... I think you get the idea. You can be as creative as you would like, have fun, and or reflect on the special memories you might have from this very special day.
Here is an example of a photo that tells what motherhood means to me...
This is a photo of my grandmother, Daisy McCubbins-Morse, when she was a little girl on the left side (the girl wearing the dark bonnet and plaid dress), and then a photo of me when I was about the same age on the right side. See any resemblance??? My mother has always kept these two photos side by side to one another in a matted frame in our home and then a few years ago, she gave me a copy of these matted photos as a Christmas gift. This photo means so much to me for so many reasons. First of all, it always reminds me of my own mother because my mom was Daisy's only child with dark hair and brown eyes just like her, and then I am Daisy's only grandchild with brown eyes and dark hair just like her. This has just always been interesting to me for some reason.
The photo also means so much to me because it reminds me of the strong line of women that are in my family and the trials and triumphs we have all survived as children and mothers. I never had the opportunity to meet my grandmother as she passed when my mother was only the small age of 5 years old. And perhaps this tragedy has formed a bond between my mother and her siblings which spread down throughout myself and all of my cousins. A bond of unconditional love that we all share with each other and our own children and the helping hands we all lend to one another in order to try and be the best mother's we can possibly be.
Mother's Day is a very special day to me and I would love to have all of you submit a photo showing off why it's a special day to you as well!!!

Do we also include a caption to go with the photo?
Leaving a caption to your photo is completely up to you! The important part is having the photo posted and having your friends and family members "like" the photo.
